Power of Lead Magnets

We advocate and use lead magnets.

Here is why.

Reason 1.

They allow you to explain your services, skills and the benefits of working with you.

You could argue that a website or blog does the same, but here is why it doesn't.

People do not read. They skim the text.

Now, add that to the fact that a website or blog is free to read; there is no value associated with it.

It's just another website.

Now, here is the rub.

When humans have to pay or, in the case of a lead magnet, give you their details (payment), it then has a value.

That's why prospects will read a lead magnet article or guide rather than the same information on a webpage.

Reason 2.

When a prospect engages with a lead magnet, they qualify themselves as a good prospect for the subject of that lead magnet.

Lead magnets need to be specific, so you know exactly what the prospect is interested in.

An example

John visits your website; the odds are you will not know who he is or what he is interested in. He's just a number.

But if John engages with a lead magnet on training managers, you know his details and interests.

Now, you can engage with him and offer solutions to his issues.

Reason 3.

The third reason is my favourite.

A well-put-together lead magnet will tell a story, be easy to read, and sell your products and services without the prospect knowing.

It works like this.

A prospect will engage with your lead magnet if they feel;

  • It answers a question for them.

  • Provides a guide to completing a task.

  • It gives expert advice on a specific topic.

  • Solves a problem they have and cannot solve.

Remember, they must believe it's all about them, not your products or services.

Now that you have their attention and they have engaged with your lead magnet tell them a story.

  • Confirm that you understand their issues.

  • Provide context of your expert experience.

  • Detail how you fix, address or deal with the issue.

  • Show you are an expert in the field and can help them.

So, by the end of the lead magnet, they know you are the expert in the field, and your services will solve their problems.

Many clients will be ready or closer to buying from you.

Summary

  • A lead magnet allows you to showcase your expertise, services or products.

  • It allows you to explain the benefits of your service using a format that prospects will read.

  • It creates warm leads.

  • And it works 24/7, every day of the year.

Caveat

Your lead magnet must be relevant, on-topic, and helpful to the target audience.
