Life Lessons From a Chair
An important life lesson.
I should know better now, but we all need a reminder sometimes.
Let's set the stage.
My long-term partner moved out whilst I was in hospital in June of this year.
She took most of our possessions, so my place was bare.
Great for large Scalextric or train sets, but even a bit too sparse for me, a minimalist.
So, I decided to buy a chair.
I ordered the chair, and it promptly arrived the next day.
A great start.
Like most of us, I have built a few IKEA items in my day, so the thought of assembly was not daunting.
I unpacked the chair and laid everything out. All there great!
We're looking good!
As I examined the chair, I quickly realised that craftsmen had not made the chair.
The blood pumping out of my finger confirmed this after a seem lashed out and cut me.
After wrapping the finger up, I proceeded to assemble the chair.
It seemed simple: bolt A goes through the joint to meet metal plug B.
But 30 minutes later, I understood that those wonderful Chinese craftsmen had added excitement to the assembly.
Plug B could slide up and down.
So, blot A had a lot of fun finding plug B.
Blood Loss
After 60 minutes of blood loss, I had only 2 bolts connected with their plug.
It was time to call it quits.
As the rest of the chair parts connected easily, I resigned to leave two bolts unbolted.
So, the three lessons I learnt from this chair.
You cannot send it back if you bleed over your recent purchase.
Be careful which furniture you use to consummate your relationships.
You get what you pay for.
Lots of people advertise cheap marketing services.
We're different.
We partner with busy companies to transform their marketing with managed on-brand Omnichannel.
